About…

This one day workshop will help you understand the terminology, equipment and accessories involved in shooting macro and close-up images. We will cover everything from shooting and lighting through to post processing to get the most out of your macro photography.  We will end the day with a practical session to practice what we have learnt and solidify our knowledge.

 

Course Duration…

The Macro Photograpy workshop is a 1 Full Day Workshop. You will start the day with a theoretical session where the facilitator will share finer details about techniques and the use of equipment i.e.   lenses, focusing etc. The day will end with a practical shoot under close guidance of a professional photographer.

 

Aspects covered…

What exactly is closeup, life size, 1:1 photography? Specialist Macro Equipment i.e. Lenses, Extension Tubes, Lens Reversal, Bellows, Teleconverters, Flashes, Ring Flashes, Tripods, Monopods etc. Macro Lighting Techniques such as Fill and Full Flash, Diffused Lighting, Time of Day, Lighting setups, Using Mirrors. Best shooting techniques such as Focusing, Drive / Shutter release modes, Mirror lock-up, Metering etc.

Costs…

R1,500 per person. Lunch & Beverages included (R1,250 for Photo Critic members)

 

Requirements…

This is an advanced course which assumes you already understand the basics of your camera and now want to get more out of it in a slightly more specialised field. If you don’t yet comprehend the basics, we recommend that you take a look at completing any of our BASIC PHOTOGRAPHY COURSES.

You also need to bring your own camera, lens(es), extension tubes (if you have any), and a tripod.
