Wedding photography is extremely rewarding in terms of creativity and income. This wedding photography course is aimed at people who already understand the basics of photography and would like to turn their hobbies into a creative career. The DPC team, consisting of two professional wedding photographers have pooled their knowledge and skills to create the wedding photography course. The workshop is extremely practical and the classes limited to 8 people only. Theories are backed up with visual samples. The highlight is a practical shoot with dressed up models whereafter the participants work are evaluated, and feedback given. The course include a crash course in popular wedding style retouching and digital workflow; the use of popular software and wedding filters. The course conclude with a final “on-location” portrait session for participants to hone their skills and learn to shoot “under pressure”. The workshop takes place over four days…

Day 1 |
|
Inspiration: View the work of top international wedding photographers, 3 distinctive styles of wedding photography you shold know, Essential equipment you should have, The photographer’s A-Z for wedding photography (from Marketing to Delivery), Pre-Wedding Day Issues, Wedding Day Issues, Post Wedding Day Issues, The art of combining natural light with artificial light. Practical shoot: Preserving the Ambient Light.

Day 2 |
| Tips and tricks pertaining to posing, the preparation, shooting the ceremony, capturing the details, group shots, the portrait session, shooting at the reception. Practical Shoot: The Wedding Day.

Day 3 |
|
Constructive evaluation of photos taken during the practical shoot. The digital workflow: Imprortance of working effectively, popular software, importing sample images into Lightroom, Minor adjustments: Exposure and Colour, Tagging and Photo Selections etc. Timeless and popular retouching techniques: Skin softening, adding glow, dynamic lighting through layers, Black and White, Sepia, Vignette, etc (Photoshop and Lightroom). Making ready for delivery: Advice about printing and exporting images for printing, Cropping, Sharpening, Introduction to coffee table books, album design.

Day 4 |
| The course conclude with a final “on-location shoot“ where participants get the chance to refine their poses and test their skills.

R4,800 per person (meals included). Discount of R700 for Photo Critic members.

Requirements… |
|
A DSLR camera and speedlight(s) is essential. It is expected that attendees should know the basics of photography such as aperture, shutterspeed, ISO, White balance, Metering etc. If you don’t yet understand the basics, we recommend that you take a look at our Basic Photography Course.

Recommended… |
|
